Beauty Tips for #NYFW

To prepare for New York Fashion Week I went to our Beauty Team for some tips and tricks. We need to stand out among a sea of PR professionals in the standard all black uniform, "Dressy Black" (see my previous post What I will be Wearing.)  Here is Melissa giving you a sneak peek at the Beauty Teams very good pointers!

MOUTH: Everyone agreed that a beautiful smile is the best first impression.  To make that smile memorable it is important to have white teeth, fresh breath and a matte red lip!   I road tested the Bite lip pencil in pomegranate, see below, on Saturday night.  It was a huge success!  It was a little more maintenance than my regular lip gloss and I recommend having a powder compact in your evening bag for touch ups because I felt the color crept a little after eating and drinking.

NAILS: There is nothing worse than chipped nails and dry, cracked hands.  Our hands take a beating with the multiple invitations to stuff, paper shuffling, and seat card preparation, not to mention there is no extra time for a manicure.  Luckily, the Shallac manicure comes to the rescue!  Many nail salons now offer the Shellac or Gel manicures.  It is a bit more money, but it does not chip or come off for two weeks!  Now our nails will look perfect all the way through Fashion Week and all we need to do is maintain our skin with hand cream.  I  am working on not biting my nails and I think this will also help me conquer this bad habit.  A two for one!

HAIR:  To maintain a  fashionable coiffe during Fashion Week, the Beauty Team recommends styling your hair in a top knot.  It keeps your hair off your face and your headset in place, allowing us to get our tasks done without the distraction of our hair.  I love the rubberized U Pins, below, they are a reasonably priced alternative to the ones I discussed in my post Pin it!.  I keep them in my bag for a quick chignon or bun when I need to put up my hair.

Lastly but not least, every gal needs a Fashion Emergency Kit  in their purse or desk drawer.  My favorite product is the Deodorant Removing Sponge - this is a MUST for keeping our "Dressy Black" smudge free.

I am getting ready to see you at the shows...dabbing aquaphor on my lips, wearing my whitestrips and about to soak my hands in lotion.  Now I need to figure out what I am going to wear!
